Health literacy is essential for patients to understand, engage with, and adhere to preventive care such as cervical cancer screening, which requires timely follow-up and active participation across multiple steps. Nearly 90% of U.S. adults struggle with complex health information, a burden that disproportionately affects marginalized populations and contributes to lower screening rates and poorer outcomes. Addressing these gaps through clear communication, culturally tailored education, and practical support can improve shared decision-making, adherence, and equity in cervical cancer prevention.

China has achieved multiple landmark advances in the development of a comprehensive three-tier cervical cancer prevention system. Through the research and large-scale deployment of HPV vaccines, as well as innovations in screening technologies and the optimization of diagnostic and treatment strategies, along with the strengthening of cross-sector collaboration mechanisms, a cervical cancer prevention and control model with distinct Chinese characteristics has gradually taken shape.  We invited six Chinese gynecologists to introduce the advances in the diagnosis and treatment of cervical, anal, and vulvar lesions, HPV vaccines, self-collected urine HPV detection, and cervical screening with the assistance of artificial intelligence in China.
