Prajakta Adsul, MBBS, MPH, PhD
Dr. Prajakta Adsul, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Member of the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center, leads as the Inaugural Director of UNM’s Center for Advancing Dissemination and Implementation Science. A primary care physician by training and former Cancer Prevention Fellow at the National Cancer Institute, her research uses community-based, participatory methods to design and implement pragmatic interventions that address cancer prevention and control challenges in medically disadvantaged populations both locally and globally.

Brian Befano, MPH PhD(c)
Brian Befano is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Washington. He has worked for over 20 years researching the natural history of HPV infections and their role in cervical carcinogenesis during which he has been a technical consultant on multiple large-scale longitudinal cohort studies and done recent research and development work on the application of artificial intelligence to cancer detection and screening.

Philip E. Castle, PhD, MPH
Director of the Division of Cancer Prevention, Acting Director of the Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program, and a Senior Investigator in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the US National Cancer Institute. My interests are the science and translation of cancer prevention strategies; global health disparities research; epidemiology of human papillomaviruses (HPV) and cervical/anogenital cancer.

Rebekah Compton, DNP, FNP-BC, MBA
Becky is the Chief Operating Officer for the physicians group practice at the University of Virginia and continues to practice in Family Medicine. In her clinical role, she runs a colposcopy clinic and oversees the colposcopy elective for the Family Medicine residents. She also supports the education of residents and medical and nursing students for women’s health procedures and sits on the ASCCP board.

Christine Conageski, MD, MSc
Christine Conageski, MD is an Associate Professor in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University Colorado School of Medicine. She completed her medical school training at the University of Cincinnati and her Gynecology/Obstetrics residency at the University of Colorado. She also completed a Masters in Clinical Science through the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute. Dr. Conageski is the Director of the University of Colorado Colposcopy Clinic. She practices general obstetrics and gynecology, and her clinical and research interests focus on HPV-associated diseases of the lower genital tract, screening disparities and infectious diseases of the lower genital tract. She has served as the course director for ASCCP Comprehensive Colposcopy course, as a member of the ASCCP Board of Directors, and is a member or chair of several ASCCP committees.

Didem Egemen, PhD
Didem Egemen is a biostatistician and cancer researcher with expertise in epidemiology and artificial intelligence. Her work focuses on HPV and cervical cancer, with research interests in developing and validating AI-based visual biomarkers and obtaining risk-based screening guidelines. She aims to improve early detection through clinically meaningful and reliable biomarkers. Dr. Egemen was one of the biostatisticians who estimated the risks underlying the 2019 ASCCP Risk-Based Management Guidelines and continues to contribute to guideline development as part of the Enduring Guidelines committee.

Mark H. Einstein, MD
Mark Einstein, MD, MS is Professor and Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has served in numerous leadership roles for many national and international OB/GYN and cancer-focused groups including the World Health Organization, the US National Cancer Institute, ASCCP, the American Cancer Society, and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. He is a Past President of the ASCCP, the Society of Lower Genital Tract Diseases. He has served in public policy roles in the US and globally as a leader in clinical guidelines development for cervical cancer screening. He has also served in roles for the CDC and Departments of Health in guiding cancer prevention and control strategies, particularly in vulnerable and marginalized populations.

Maria E. Fernandez, PhD
Dr. María Fernández is Vice President of Population Health and Implementation Science at UTHealth Houston and founding Co-Director of its Institute for Implementation Science. She holds the Lorne Bain Chair of Public Health and Medicine and directs the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research. Her work focuses on participatory, community-engaged research to prevent cancer and chronic diseases among underserved populations. A leader in dissemination and implementation science, she has served on NIH panels and trained globally. With over 235 publications and several books, her honors include the ASPPH Research Excellence Award and UTHealth President’s Scholar Award.

Lisa Flowers, M.D., MPH, FACOG
Dr. Lisa Flowers is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology who has dedicated her career to improving health outcomes in HIV populations. She is the Director of Colposcopy and Anoscopy clinics at Georgia Cancer Center of Excellence and the Ponce de Leon Center. She is a gynecologist engaged in health disparities in HIV populations and a translational researcher in screening, detection, and treatment of HPV related diseases. Dr. Flowers is the Emory Principal Investigator (PI) for the AIDS Malignancy Consortium testing novel treatments to stop the development of virally mediated cancers and site PI for the NIH/NCI multi-site study Anal Cancer/HSIL Outcomes Research Study focusing on HPV related precancerous cells in people with HIV. In addition, she is the PI for the NCI CASCADE study in Georgia, one of only two sites in the US to identify cervical cancer screening strategies using self-collection in women with HIV.

Lisa Gabor is an assistant professor and attending physician in gynecologic oncology at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School. Within ASCCP, she has previously served as a Junior Board Member and currently sits on the Program Committee.

Dr. Guido is Professor Emeritus at Magee-Womens Hospital of the UPMC Health System where he was director of the colposcopy clinic for over 25 years. He is a past president of ASCCP. He was the co-director of the 2019 ASCCP guidelines conference. He has been a member of many ASCCP committees including the ASCCP App committee and the Enduring Guidelines committee.

Dr. Haefner completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Michigan in 1990 and a fellowship in gynecologic pathology in 1993. She opened the University of Michigan Center for Vulvar Diseases in 1993. She has interests in high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions of the vulva, lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, and hidradenitis suppurativa. She is the primary author of the Vulvodynia Guideline (2005). Dr. Haefner is actively involved in research on vulvovaginal diseases. She is a Past President of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and Past President of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease.

I am a third-year gynecologic oncology fellow at Rutgers Cancer Institute in New Brunswick, NJ. My research interests include disparities in cervical cancer screening and treatment.

Megan J Huchko, MD, MPH
Dr. Huchko, MD, MPH is the Hollier Family Associate Professor of Global Health and Obstetrics & Gynecology and Director of the Center for Global Reproductive Health at Duke. Her research focuses on optimizing cervical cancer prevention among vulnerable populations. Currently, she is carrying out several large studies in central Uganda and western Kenya to evaluate implementation strategies for HPV-based cervical cancer screening using self-collection in rural settings.

Patricia P. Jeudin MD
Dr. Jeudin is a gynecologist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in the division of gynecological oncology. Her clinical and research focus is on women with lower genitourinary tract disease from chronic HPV infection. She has an interest in outcomes based on race and ethnicity and how to mitigate disparities in cancer outcomes.

Nadi Nina Kaonga, MD MHS MS FACOG
Nadi Nina Kaonga, MD MHS MS FACOG, is an Assistant Professor and Academic Generalist within the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University; she is also a faculty member of the Lower Anogenital Tract Screening and Treatment Fellowship at Emory. She has a background in global health, and her research focuses on the intersection of digital technology and health systems strengthening.

Michelle J. Khan, MD, MPH
Michelle Khan is a Clinical Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. She is a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist with training in Reproductive Infectious Diseases. She sees patients for obstetrics at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital and for gynecology and dysplasia at Stanford Health Care. She works as a generalist seeing patients for routine Ob/Gyn care, pregnancy and delivery, and in subspecialty clinics focused on HPV-related diseases of the anogenital tract. She sees patients of any gender.
Dr. Khan’s clinical expertise is in screening, evaluation and treatment of HPV-related diseases and prevention of HPV-related cancers. She started working in the HPV field in 2003 during a Howard Hughes-National Institutes of Health research fellowship. She completed medical school at Rutgers University – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, residency in Gynecology/Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and fellowship in Reproductive Infectious Diseases at the University of California San Francisco. During fellowship she was trained in advanced colposcopy, high-resolution anoscopy (HRA) and treatment of cervical, vulvar, vaginal and anal disease. She is active in professional societies teaching national and international courses in colposcopy and HRA and formulating guidelines for screening and management of HPV-related diseases. She is the President of the ASCCP and the Secretary of the International Anal Neoplasia Society.

Lindsay Kuroki, MD, MSCI
Dr. Lindsay Kuroki is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at WashU Medicine in St. Louis. As a board-certified, clinically active gynecologic oncologist with expertise in cancer prevention and control, her current work focuses on designing innovative strategies to improve earlier detection of gynecologic cancers; and addressing the social determinants of health that strongly influence whether patients gain equitable access to care and treatment options. Dr. Kuroki has received grant funding from the NIH/NCI, AAOGF, Doris Duke Foundation, and has over 70 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

L. Stewart Massad, MD
Dr. Massad is a Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Washington University in St. Louis. He has been presenting at ASCCP scientific meetings since 1992 and was co-author of ASCCP guidelines 2001-2012. He was a member of the Enduring Guidelines leadership until 2024..

E.J. Mayeaux, Jr, MD, DABFM, FAAFP, DABPM-CI
Dr Mayeaux Medical Director of Ambulatory Quality Management, and Family Medicine Associate Program Director for Lexington Medical Center, Lexington SC, and Professor Emeritus of Family Medicine at LSUHSC. Dr. Mayeaux has been an active member of the ASCCP and IFCPC since 1996. He is currently on the executive board of IFCPC and was ASCCP President in 2014. He was the lead editor of Modern Colposcopy, 3rd edition, and has published 10 medical textbooks.

Jane R. Montealegre, PhD MSPH
Jane Montealegre is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Science at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on strategies to increase access to cancer prevention and control services in low-resource settings.

Anna- Barbara Moscicki, MD
Dr. Anna- Barbara Moscicki, MD Is Professor of Pediatrics At UCLA, Division Chief of Adolescent And Young Adult Medicine, and Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Research, Department Of Pediatric. Dr. Moscicki is past president for the ASCCP. Dr. Moscicki’s career has focused on adolescent gynecology and sexually transmitted infection research with a specific focus in human papillomavirus, HIV infection and mucosal immunology. Dr. Moscicki has been the principal investigator of a natural history study of HPV In adolescents and young women since 1990, one of the longest running HPV cohorts. Her work was highly influential in forming the new cervical cancer screening guidelines and triage of abnormal cytology in young women. Her recent work focuses on mucosal immunology and the vaginal microbiota. she has been involved in numerous clinical trials including vaginal microbiocides and an ongoing one dose HPV vaccine trial. She is also involved in health outcomes in perinatally HIV infected children including HPV vaccine efficacy, sexual risk behaviors, substance use, oral health, microbiomes, and HPV infections and has worked with numerous networks on HIV disease in children and adolescents including adolescent medicine HIV/AIDs research network, adolescent therapeutic network, IMPAACT and PHACS. She has over 150 publications and she serves on numerous national and international committees, including the WHO, NIH, ASCCP, and the American Cancer Society.

I am Program Manager in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. My research interest include computer vision, natural language processing and multi-modal approaches for medical applications.

Akiva Novetsky, MD, MS
Akiva P. Novetsky, MD, MS is an associate professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. He also serves as the associate chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology for quality and safety. Dr. Novetsky obtained his bachelor’s degree in biology from Yeshiva University and a medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with subspecialty certification in gynecologic oncology. Dr. Novetsky is an active member of the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) and serves as a Member-at-Large on the ASCCP Board of Directors. He was the Chair of the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Annual Scientific Meetings. Additionally, he has served as Past Chair of the ASCCP Assessment Committee and continues to serve as a member of the Finance Committee. He is currently the Treasurer of ASCCP. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease and serves as a reviewer for multiple other journals. Dr. Novetsky served on the working groups that developed the Colposcopy Standards Guidelines, published in 2017 and on the working group and steering committee for the development of the 2019 Management Guidelines. He also serves as a Co-Chair of one of the working groups in the American Cancer Society initiative to transition to primary HPV screening. Dr. Novetsky’s clinical expertise includes women’s cancers including: cervical, uterine, ovarian, vulvar and vaginal cancers as well as the pre-malignant conditions associated with these diseases.

Xuan Rao, MD (candidate)
I am an MD candidate in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, Women’s Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, supervised by Professor Xiao Li. My research focuses on the early screening and precise diagnosis of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, as well as the drug resistance mechanisms of GTN.

Mark Schiffman, MD, MPH
Dr. Schiffman has spent his career at NCI as a clinical epidemiologist on cervical cancer etiology and prevention. He directed the NCI contribution to the ASCCP screening management guidelines for almost 20 years.

Peter F. Schnatz, DO, MBA, FACOG, FACP, MSCP
He is Chair and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Internal Medicine at Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine. He is on the Board of Directors of the International Menopause Society, American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), and The Advancing Health After Hysterectomy Foundation, Inc (AHAH). Dr. Schnatz is on the Editorial Boards of the Journals Menopause and Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease (JLGTD). In addition to being on the Board of Directors, Dr. Schnatz is a regular faculty member for ASCCP courses, past Chair of the ASCCP education committee, and currently an Associate Editor of the JLGTD.

Sangini S. Sheth, MD, MPH
Sangini S. Sheth, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor and Section Chief of Gynecologic Specialties in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. She graduated from Yale College and received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Sangini’s recent work has focused on quality improvement for cervical cancer screening and management of abnormal results. Her research utilizes implementation science methods to improve cervical cancer prevention.

Joanne Sheu, MD, MPH
Joanne Sheu is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Specialties in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. Her practice consists of patient-centered gynecologic care of individuals of all ages, with a particular clinical and academic interest in pre-invasive HPV disease of the lower genital tract. She obtained her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, completed OB/GYN residency training at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, and completed a MPH in Biostatistics from the SUNY Downstate School of Public Health.

Sveinung Wergeland Sorbye, MD, PhD
Sveinung Wergeland Sorbye, MD, PhD, is a consultant pathologist at the Department of Clinical Pathology, University Hospital of North Norway (UNN), Tromso. His work focuses on cervical cancer prevention, including HPV testing, cervical cytology and histopathology, screening/triage strategies, and HPV vaccination. He is involved in clinical research and quality improvement projects in cervical screening and digital pathology.

Susan T. Vadaparampil, PhD, MPH
Dr. Susan Vadaparampil is Senior Member and Professor in the Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior at Moffitt Cancer Center. Her research focuses on breast and cervical cancer prevention/early detection. Dr. Vadaparampil is Co-Program Director of Moffitt’s NCI funded T32 Behavioral Oncology and Career Development program. Since 2018, Dr. Vadaparampil has served as Moffitt’s Associate Center Director for Community Outreach & Engagement (COE). She has been recognized for her outstanding scientific contributions through her appointments from 2020 to 2024 to the National Cancer Advisory Board and as Co-Chair of the ACS National Roundtable on Cervical Cancer from 2023 to 2025.

Alan G. Waxman, MD, MPH
Dr. Waxman is Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of New Mexico. His main academic focus has been cervical cancer prevention. He served on numerous ASCCP committees including the Society’s Board of Directors and was ASCCP’s President 2012-2013. He has authored numerous articles and book chapters on subjects related to human papillomavirus, colposcopy and cervical cancer prevention.

Kathryn Welch, MD
Dr. Kathryn Welch is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan. She is the Director of the Center for Vulvar Diseases at Michigan Medicine. Her practice encompasses general gynecology, with a focus on vulvar dermatoses, lower genital tract disease, and menopause.

Nicolas Wentzensen, MD, PHD, MSc
Nicolas Wentzensen is Head of the Clinical Epidemiology Unit and Deputy Director of the Clinical Genetics Branch in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the NCI. He is a Medical Doctor with a PhD in Applied Tumour Biology, and a Masters degree in Epidemiology. He has held numerous leadership and participant roles in committees and organizations relevant to cervical cancer, including the IARC Handbook on cervical cancer screening (Co-lead), previous iterations of ACS screening guidelines (WG lead), the US Colposcopy Standards (Co-lead), the US Consensus Management Guidelines (Steering Committee, WG lead), and the US Enduring Guidelines effort (Co-lead).

Amy L. Wiser, MD, FAAFP, IBCLC
Dr. Amy Wiser, MD, FAAFP, IBCLC, MSCP (she/her) is an educator, mom, and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Iowa Department in Iowa City, Iowa. She completed her undergraduate studies at Penn State University and earned her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. After graduating from family medicine residency training in Pennsylvania, she completed her OB Fellowship through University of Washington in Spokane. Dr. Wiser started her career in rural Oregon and, prior to her current academic role, worked for an urban underserved LAL – FQHC in Portland. These clinical experiences continue to motivate her love of full scope family medicine practice and community focus. Dr. Wiser’s clinical and research passions include LGBTQ+ care, family planning, as well as HPV and cervical cancer screening and prevention. She is the incoming Medical Director of the University of Iowa LGBTQ Clinic, a core faculty of the family medicine residency program, and holds obstetrical surgical privileges through the university. Dr Wiser is an ASCCP Board of Directors member and serves on the Executive Committee. She is the Interim Chair of the Steering Committee member of the American Cancer Society National Roundtable on Cervical Cancer as well as an invited member of the American Cancer Society National HPV Roundtable.
