The Success Story of HPV Vaccination in Australia What Can We Learn?

Professor Donovan is Head of the Sexual Health Program at the Kirby Institute at the University of New South Wales and he practises at the Sydney Sexual Health Centre, Sydney Hospital. His research interests include clinical and public health aspects of HIV and other STIs; and key populations such as youth, gay men, sex workers, Indigenous people, prisoners, and juvenile offenders. Professor Donovan is President of the International Society for STD Research and a Senior Counsellor to the International Union against STIs World Executive Committee.
Australia is privileged to have the highest quadrivalent HPV vaccine coverage in the world, adding schoolboys to the vaccine program in 2013. This has placed Professor Donovan and his collaborators in an ideal place to document the population effects of the HPV vaccine.
