Anna-Barbara Moscicki, MD

Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Director, Division of Adolescent Medicine - University of California, San Francisco

Dr. Moscicki is currently a Professor of Pediatrics at UCSF, and Associate Director of the UCSF's Division of Adolescent Medicine.  Dr. Moscicki's career has focused on adolescent gynecology and sexually transmitted disease research. She has over 100 publications in the areas of adolescence, sexually transmitted diseases, specifically human papillomavirus (HPV) and HIV. Following her Adolescent Medicine fellowship, she completed a year as a fellow in Sexually Transmitted Disease Epidemiology at UCSF and then pursued a molecular virology fellowship at Stanford University as a Howard Hughes fellow. Dr. Moscicki's work since has focused on HPV and cervical cancer. Dr. Moscicki has been the PI of a natural history study of HPV in adolescents and young women since 1990, one of the longest running cohort studies of HPV. In addition to her Adolescent Medicine, STI epidemiology and virology training, Dr. Moscicki studied the immunologic responses to HPV.  Her studies now incorporate immune studies of HPV in the field by incorporating these types of complex studies into her longitudinal study of women infected with HPV. She now serves on numerous NIH and national committees, including the Society for Adolescent Medicine, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and the American Cancer Society.



Judith T. Burgis, MD

Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - University of South Carolina School of Medicine

Judith T. Burgis, M.D. is Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine (USC SOM).  She received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a Master of Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.  Dr. Burgis attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia,  South Carolina.  She completed an OB/GYN residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.  After an active clinical affiliation, Dr. Burgis joined the full time faculty with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2004.

Dr. Burgis’ special interests are pediatric and adolescent gynecology, abnormal/cervical cytology, HPV, vulvar disorders, maternal morbidity and mortality, sexually transmitted infections, abnormal bleeding, and gynecologic ultrasound.
 
Dr. Burgis is an active member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), the North American Society for Pediatric and Gynecology (NASPAG), and the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (SAAOG). She is also a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

Dr. Burgis is currently President of the USC School of Medicine Alumni Association and President of the South Carolina Perinatal Association.  She serves as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer for the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
